Start worrying? Please.
Has it occured to anyone that more people are eligible to vote for a pop show contestant than for an American president?
First, and foremost, you must be an American citizen to vote for an American president. Anyone can vote for a pop show contestant. Whether your here on a work visa, for school, with a greencard or illegal, you can pick up a phone and dial.
Second, you must be 18 years of age in order to vote for an American president. If you can dial a phone, you can vote for a pop show contestant, and a significant amount of votes come from people under the age of 18.
Third, you can only cast one vote for an American president. When voting for a pop show contestant you can vote as much and as often as you like.
There is zero comparison between the two. To try and find one is only propagating the Euro-idea that Americans are so stupid that they pay more attention to pop-star shows than to their own government.
Well, it's crap.
