The Utah UTOPIA project is amazing. It really shows that it makes more sense for the public to have owernship of the infrastructure for the internet. This allows true compition. I hope San Francisco has the foresight to implement something like this.

I've been feeling very powerless over the situation in Lebanon. I discovered today that you can make an online contribution to the International Federation of the Red Cross. This money will go to providing disaster relief for the refugees.

So, Ted Stevens has gotten a lot of press on the "internets" lately for his "series of tubes" rant. While I was reading a Wikipedia entry on the guy I noticed a disturbing thing. Not only is Ted Stevens ingorant of how the internet works, and the brain behind the "Bridge to Nowhere" scheme, he's also third in the presidential line of succession. Yep, you read that right, if Bush, Cheney, Hassert all keel over Stevens gets to run the country.
Shiver.
